FRENCH Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain outplayed Dutchman Martin Verkerk 6-4 6-2 today to advance to the final of the Hong Kong's Champions Challenge exhibition tennis tournament.

Ferrero was never in trouble during his match against Verkerk, which was a repeat of last year's French Open final.
The Dutchman, who is ranked 19th in the world, offered stern resistance in the first set, but Ferrero gradually wore down his opponent to set up Saturday's final against reigning Wimbledon champion Roger Federer of Switzerland.
Federer defeated Max Mirnyi of Belarus on Thursday in the three-day tournament.
"I thought I played very good tonight," said the 23-year-old Ferrero after his victory.
