WATSON WATERS CHALLENGE UPDATE Federer opens '04 with a win
Hong Kong, China (Sports Network) - Wimbledon titlist Roger Federer saw his first action of 2004 on Thursday and opened with a three-set victory over Belarusian Max Mirnyi at the Champions Challenge exhibition event.
The Swiss star defeated Mirnyi 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and will meet French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero or French Open runner-up Martin Verkerk in the final. The Spanish Ferrero and Dutch Verkerk will meet here on Friday, marking a rematch of last year's lopsided Roland Garros final won by the Spaniard.

NEWS Federer, Ferrero, Hewitt to play at ABN Amro
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) -- Roger Federer, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Lleyton Hewitt will compete in an unusually strong field at the ABN Amro tennis tournament in Rotterdam this February, tournament director Richard Krajicek said Tuesday.
Federer of Switzerland and Spaniard Ferrero are currently second and third in the ATP rankings, while former world No. 1 Hewitt is 16th.
